Year 9 & 10 Sports Day
Dear all
We are delighted to confirm that the rescheduled Secondary Sports Day for Years 9 and 10 is taking place this year at the University of Chichester, College Lane, PO19 6PE on Monday 6th July.
All Year 9 and 10 pupils are expected to attend whether they are physically engaging in PE lessons currently or not.
Pupils are to wear full CFS PE kit on this day (anyone not in CFS kit will be given spare kit to wear for the day).
All pupils will need to bring a packed lunch and plenty of water. In an effort to reduce food waste, those in receipt of free school meals will need to confirm if they would like their packed lunch provided by completing the Google form HERE
Also if your child takes regular medication, including an inhaler, they will need to bring this with them on the day to hand to their tutor at registration.
Unfortunately parents/carers are unable to stay and watch the events.
Pupils will engage in a carousel of sports related activities including track and field, team pursuit, rounders and team problem solving competitions which will contribute to the House Cup presented at the end of the Summer Term.
Travel arrangements
Sports Day arrival from 08:30 with registration completed by 09:00.
Due to the timings of the day, there is the opportunity for pupils to meet at the University and be dismissed from there rather than meeting and being dismissed from School at the normal times. We will presume that all Year 9 & 10 pupils will be going directly to the University. Therefore, it is important that you please complete the questions in the Google form HERE if your child is NOT going directly to the University and will therefore be at school by 08:15 (at the latest).
Sports Day will finish at approximatley 14:30 so all pupils will then walk back to school for usual collection unless you've specified in the Google Form that you wish for your child to be dismissed from the University at 14:30. HERE
The University would like to gauge the volume of traffic in relation to dropping off and picking up pupils directly at the University. Therefore, it would be helpful if you could also complete the Google Form if you are driving onto the University site. The University have asked us to inform you that the car park uses ANPR to record vehicles movements and there is a 20 minute maximum drop off time allowed before a penalty charge is applied. The turning circle where the buses stop is not allowed to be used, please drive to the main car park which is signposted.
Secondary after school clubs that are run by CFS staff are NOT running, Clubs run by external providers are running. Supervised study is also on.
Pupil Behaviour
As a school, we reserve the right to not take pupils to the Sports Day due to their current behaviour at school and their general behaviour record along with those pupils who have been set IE for the day. Pupils who will not be in attendance at Sports Day because of their behaviour will be informed and will be expected in School for that day.
Weather and contingency plans
Sadly, if there is rain on the day pupils will return to CFS and continue in normal lessons. This would be communicated to parents by 7.30am on the day.
Refreshments This time we are selling some refreshments at the university, if you would like your child to purchase any, please send them with cash on the day.
Best wishes
Mr G Dean
Head of PE
