Amazing sailing achievement for CFS
Junior Schools Week in RS Feva's - Sunday 7th July - Tuesday 9th July based at Itchenor Sailing Club
The National Schools Championships, now in its 69th year, is one of the only such events in the country, promoting inter-school sailing and the encouragement of young sailors. Over the years more than 90 different schools from all over the UK have participated in the event.
This year CFS were represented by a team of 5 boats racing in a competition of 106 entered boats
We are enormously proud of our team of 10 keen sailors, who raced 7 races over 2 days.
In terms of overall results, one boat won first place 3/ 7 races sailed. First place out of 106 boats! Unfortunately, they carried a penalty point they couldn’t shed which placed them 24th overall.
Final results placed:
Thomas K and Ted R finished 8th overall. Both Year 9.
Callum A and Arthur R finished 18th overall. Both Year 9.
Felix G (new to the school Year 9) and his younger brother Rupert joining year 7 in September finished 24th overall.
Liberty A and Sophie C finished 35th overall. Sophie Year 9, Libby Year 7.
Toby C and Leo B, both Year 6. Competed in 1.5 races but didn’t score. They’re inspired, a little daunted but both want to do better next time.
We have a really strong team of sailors who have become the best of friends, on and off the water, who aim to win the team cup for CFS next year. They are a fantastic group of friends who support each other brilliantly and we are so very proud of them all, and a huge thanks to their parents for all the support they give.
