Food Preparation and Nutrition GCSE Practical
The Year 10 Food Preparation and Nutrition GCSE students were creating dishes in 60 minutes based around a set brief, taking into account cooking skills and correct use of equipment. The brief was:
'I am a 17 year old male who is currently in college. During my free time I go to the cinema with my friends and also spend time at the gym. When I get older, I would like to be a professional footballer.'
Lots of colourful dishes were made and all the students met the brief's requirements. Miss Pye said she was very proud of their first practical lesson and can see a lot of promise coming from our year 10 cohort this year. More wonderful dishes and photos to come!
Anais and Eva said 'We cooked this dish (chilli chicken with home made sauce and rice) because it gives a high amount of protein and carbohydrates to give the sporty student enough energy for the day, perform well in sports and at the gym and help them grow'.
Sam and Jack said 'We made our noodle stir fry because it is a simple, healthy, nutritious dish that is full of flavour, colour and contains all the essential food categories on the Eatwell Guide'.
Harry, who made foil baked chicken with fresh pesto and pasta said 'I cooked this dish because pasta is full of carbohydrates to burn off slow releasing energy, suitable for a footballer and also for a person who goes to the gym a lot. The pesto had a fresh inviting flavour which paired wonderfully with the chicken baked with herbs'.
Well done to all.
