Year 9 Football success
The Year 9 football team, newly rebranded as the Hornets, lived up to their name with a buzzing performance, earning a hard-fought victory over CHS. Early in the game, the Hornets won a free kick after applying an onslaught of pressure akin to their namesake. Freddie stepped up with confidence and fizzed the ball into the bottom corner to make it 1–0.
CHS showed pace and strength all over the pitch, but the Hornets’ back three, William, captain Henry, and Riley, stood firm, thwarting every attack and keeping our neighbours quiet. The lead was doubled when Max flew past the left-back and darted down the wing before crossing perfectly for Dantey, who hovered at the back post and converted with great composure.
At 2–0, the Hornets were in control, with keeper Reece - nicknamed The Wall - ensuring nothing got through. However, after a foul in midfield, CHS managed to slip a through ball behind the defence and pulled one back.
The closing minutes were tense but the Hornets battled to the end, showing grit and determination. When the final whistle blew, they had secured a well-deserved win, marking a strong start to the season. Well done to the whole team.
